Unit standard title: Conduct a base line risk assessment and take appropriate action
Course Aim:
The aim of this course is to provide a suitable learning opportunity for SHE representatives, supervisors, SHE managers, occupational health practitioners and managers. The training programme will enable learners to apply Hazard identification and risk assessment principles to identify to their workplace. Practical Application of this knowledge will assist in managing workplace risk and reduce the burden of incidents on all concerned.
Course Outcomes:
Persons credited with this unit standard will be able to:
- Identify hazards according to occupational hygiene stressors.
- Apply the principles of risk assessment.
- Interpret risk assessment methodologies.
- Explain the difference between baseline, continuous and issue based risk assessment.
- Explain the legal and specified requirements for conducting base line risk assessments.
- Prepare to conduct a continuous risk assessment.
- Conduct a continuous risk assessment.
- Initiate remedial action and follow up on Continuous Risk Assessment.
Course Design
This is a full 2 day course covering all modules and includes practical exercises. To obtain the credits and a certificate of competence there is also post course work that needs to be completed within 2 weeks of the contact session.
Assessment:
Assessment is done by Self, Peer and Facilitator evaluation throughout the course.
